This page covers the Hitachi Aloka UST-9124 from a repair perspective: the failure modes we see on this class of probe, how to check the probe yourself, and what information gets you an accurate repair quote.

Manufacturer Hitachi Aloka
Model UST-9124
Probe type Endocavity array
Compatible systems Aloka ProSound Alpha 6, Aloka SSD-3500, Aloka SSD-3500SX, Aloka SSD-4000

In service the UST-9124 is most often found on Aloka ProSound Alpha 6, Aloka SSD-3500, Aloka SSD-3500SX, Aloka SSD-4000. Console-side settings and module revisions still vary, so the exact system build is part of any assessment.

For endocavity heads such as the UST-9124, reprocessing chemistry is the main enemy – seal integrity and lens condition decide service life more than the electronics do.

Common failure modes for the UST-9124

Match what you are seeing against the table below. The right-hand column reflects how faults of this kind typically assess – the actual verdict always depends on the individual probe.

What you see Likely cause Typically repairable?
Image cuts out when the cable is flexed Broken internal conductors in the cable Case by case
Visible nicks, grooves or staining on the lens surface Wear from use, or chemical attack from disinfectants Usually repairable
Connector lock broken or hardware missing Broken locking mechanics on the connector housing Usually repairable
Bubbles or lifting at the lens face Lens delamination from the acoustic stack Usually repairable
Outer cable sheath showing cracks, kinks or staining Jacket wear; conductors may still be intact underneath Usually repairable
Grainy, low-detail image even after presets are checked A worn lens surface or elements beginning to degrade Case by case
Large areas of the array not firing Extensive element loss across the acoustic stack Usually not economical
Fluid found inside the probe head after a leak test Seal failure allowing disinfectant ingress Case by case
Failed electrical leakage test Compromised sealing on an endocavity probe Case by case

Check these before you ship the probe

  • Flex the cable gently along its length while imaging – intermittent dropout points to broken conductors.
  • Run the system’s built-in probe test or element check if your console provides one.
  • Inspect the lens face under good light for cuts, bubbles, lifting edges or discoloration.
  • Check the strain reliefs at both ends for splits, stiffness or separation from the cable.
  • Examine the connector for bent or corroded pins, cracks and a working locking mechanism.
  • Have the probe leak-tested before further use – fluid ingress worsens quickly and creates a patient-safety issue.

Repair, exchange or replace — which applies to your UST-9124

Three paths apply to a failing UST-9124: repair (typical for lens, housing, cable and connector damage), exchange (fastest route back to scanning) or replacement (when the acoustic stack is too far gone). The deciding factors are how much of the array still fires, whether the housing is intact and what downtime costs you. Each probe is judged on its actual condition.

What we need to quote your UST-9124 repair

  • A clear photo of the complete manufacturer and model label on the probe
  • A description of the fault: what you see on screen and when it started
  • The ultrasound system (console) the probe is used with
  • Screenshots or photos of the image problem, if the fault is visual
  • Photos of any physical damage – lens, housing, cable or connector

Product imagery on this page is representative of the UST-9124 probe family and is not a photograph of your specific unit. This page does not claim OEM authorization or universal compatibility. Repair feasibility, turnaround and commercial terms are confirmed in writing after assessment of the actual probe.
